What is the difference between a line-interactive and an online UPS?
A line-interactive UPS (Aurora III) normally passes mains through an automatic voltage regulator and switches to the inverter when the supply fails — a 3–8ms break. An online double-conversion UPS (Infinity and Optima) always rectifies incoming AC to DC and rebuilds it, so the load is permanently on inverter output and transfer to battery is 0ms. Choose online where any break, or any incoming waveform distortion, is unacceptable.
How do I size a UPS for my load?
Add up the wattage of everything you want to protect, add roughly 25% headroom for growth and inrush, then check the UPS watt rating rather than the VA rating. On a 0.9pf unit a 6000VA model supports 5400W; on an Optima unit with power factor 1, 6000VA supports the full 6000W. Send us the load list and we will size it for you.
What does output power factor 1 actually mean for me?
Power factor is the ratio between the watts a UPS can deliver and its VA rating. At 0.8pf a 10000VA UPS delivers 8000W; at 0.9pf, 9000W; at unity, the full 10000W. On the Optima Series you get the whole nameplate as usable watts, which often means one fewer UPS in the design.
How long will the batteries last during an outage?
Runtime depends on load, not just capacity. Aurora III gives 16–50 minutes at typical PC load. Standard online models carry internal batteries sized for an orderly shutdown — for example 4.5 minutes at 0.9pf load on a T6000S+. Long-run (L) models have no internal batteries and are designed for external battery strings, so runtime is whatever the string is sized for.
Can I run several units in parallel for redundancy?
Yes on the 6–10KVA range. Infinity Series 6–10KVA supports up to three units in parallel with the optional parallel card, and Optima Series offers parallel as an option — used either to add capacity or to build N+1 redundancy.
Which certifications do Energia Max units carry?
The full range is CE marked. The 6–10KVA Infinity and Optima series are also IEC/EN62040 compliant, with EMC performance documented to IEC61000-4-2/-4-3 Level 3 and IEC61000-4-4/-4-5 Level 4 on Infinity 6–10KVA. Certification records and test reports are supplied with every unit.
Can I monitor the UPS remotely?
Yes. Aurora III has a HID USB port that works with the native shutdown features of Windows, macOS and Linux. The online series adds RS232 and an intelligent card slot for optional NMC (SNMP), CMC Modbus or AS400 cards, and the 6–10KVA range ships with WinPower monitoring software.
Do you supply outside the UK?
Yes. We are based in Loughton, Essex and supply UK customers directly as well as exporting internationally. Tell us the destination and quantity and we will quote delivery with the units.

What happens when the batteries reach end of life?
VRLA batteries are consumables — plan on replacement every three to five years depending on ambient temperature and cycling. We supply replacement battery packs for every model in the range and can build a replacement schedule into your maintenance plan.
