Power protection by sector

Requirements change more by sector than by capacity. A trading floor, an imaging suite and a factory control panel all need protection — but for different reasons, with different evidence requirements. Here is how the range is usually specified.

Financial services

Trading platforms, ATM networks and back-office systems that need zero interruption and audit-grade power quality.

A dropped transaction is not a recoverable event. Financial environments run on online double-conversion protection with 0ms transfer, ±1% output regulation and monitored battery health, so power quality is provable rather than assumed. Optima Series unity power factor means a 10KVA unit supports a full 10kW of rack load without the capacity gap a 0.8pf unit would impose.

Data centres

Colocation and enterprise facilities using high-capacity parallel configurations for N+1 redundancy and SLA compliance.

Parallel capability on the 6–10KVA range allows up to three units in one array, either to add capacity or to build N+1 redundancy at rack or room level. ECO mode at 98% efficiency reduces the energy overhead measurably across a year of continuous operation, and RS232 with optional SNMP cards feeds existing DCIM and monitoring platforms.

Healthcare

Clinical imaging, patient monitoring and laboratory equipment that require pure sine wave power and IEC-compliant installation.

Clinical equipment is unforgiving about waveform quality. The online series delivers pure sine wave output with THDv below 2% on linear loads, and IEC/EN62040 compliance on the 6–10KVA range supports estates documentation and procurement requirements. Long-run models take external battery strings where extended runtime is specified.

Telecommunications

Base stations, exchange equipment and core network nodes with SNMP monitoring and extended battery runtimes.

Remote and unattended sites need two things: tolerance of poor incoming supply and remote visibility. A 185–275VAC input window with linear derating handles unstable feeds and generator supply, while the intelligent slot carries an NMC card for SNMP trap delivery to the NOC.

Manufacturing

Production line control, SCADA and industrial PCs protected against the voltage sags and surges common in factory environments.

Motor starts and inductive switching produce sags and transients that stop control systems long before they stop machinery. Double-conversion topology isolates control panels and industrial PCs completely, and IEC61000-4-4 Level 4 and 4-5 Level 4 immunity on the 6–10KVA range reflects the electrical noise of a real plant floor.

Government and public sector

Local authority IT, emergency services and public safety systems requiring CE-certified, standards-compliant backup.

Public sector procurement asks for evidence, not claims. Every unit ships with certification records and test reports suitable for tender submission, and the online series carries CE marking with IEC/EN62040 compliance on the 6–10KVA models.

Education

Schools, universities and research institutions protecting server rooms, AV infrastructure and laboratory equipment.

Education estates usually mix one or two critical server rooms with a large number of lower-value endpoints. That is a two-tier answer: online protection where a shutdown would cost a day of teaching, and Aurora III line-interactive units across labs, AV racks and admin workstations.

SME and office

Practical, cost-effective backup for growing businesses — workstations, NAS devices, routers and VoIP systems.

Most small business outages are brief: a sag, a brownout, a short cut. Aurora III with built-in AVR rides those through and gives 16–50 minutes of runtime for an orderly shutdown, with HID USB so Windows, macOS and Linux handle shutdown natively without extra software.
